Earl R. Fowler, 96, a resident of Port Orange passed away Monday January 12, 2015 at Halifax Health, Daytona Beach. Earl was born July 17, 1918 in Freeport, IL. son of L.D. and Edith Fowler. A Corporal in the U.S. Marines he honorably served from 1944 to 1946. Earl had a long career as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army and retired as Deputy Chief of Weapons Command for the Rock Island Arsenal in IL. He traveled extensively throughout the world as an advisor and was very well respected for his expertise. He will be remembered for his positive and generous nature and friendly demeanor. Earl enjoyed walking on the beach and playing golf. He was also a member of the VFW. Left to cherish his memory is his son Jerry; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a brother and sister and his wife of 64 years, Mary who passed in 2005. A celebration of Life will be held, 2:00 p.m., Saturday January 17, 2015 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange.
