Diane was born August 27, 1950, in Seattle, WA, to Wayne and Louise Branstetter. She spent her early years with her late brothers, Wayne and Butch, in the home built by her father and she loved riding her horse. She moved to Miami, FL, with her parents as a teenager and was a 1968 graduate of Palmetto High School in Miami, FL. She was an EMT in Fayetteville, NC. She received her Technical Science Degree in Surgical Technology in 1992 and worked at Cape Fear Hospital in NC as a Surgical Technician. She was also an avid breeder of AKC Great Danes and won numerous awards and ribbons. She moved to Ocala, FL, to care for her aging parents, Wayne Branstetter, and stepmother, Mary Fischer, until their deaths in 2006. She loved flamingos, turtles, and her family. She also loved playing Yahtzee and was considered as the “Yahtzee Queen” in her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Bob, of Edgewater, FL; two children, Heather Godwin (Michael) and Justin Henderson (Nicole); four grandchildren, Sean, Lillian, Heidilyn, and Adaline, all of NC; her loving sisters-in-law, Donna Carosella Stepp, Kathie Cacchione, and Marie Barta of Edgewater, FL, Melissa Willey of Ballston Spa, NY, and Kay Willey of Ormond Beach, FL; brothers-in-law, Michael Willey of Ballston Spa, NY, David Willey of Rotterdam, NY, and Steven Willey of Ormond Beach, FL; stepson, Christopher Willey (Abigail) of Ocala, FL; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Heather Willey.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 3 pm to 5 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL. Her ashes will be buried with her parents at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ocala, FL, in the spring, since it was her favorite time of year.
She will be greatly missed.
