She was born on June 16, 1946 in Castlewood, VA to the late Troy and Katherine Helbert Jessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Tarwater and one brother, Norman Jessee. She was a member of the Clinch Valley Chapter No. 152, St. Paul VA Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Port Orange Presbyterian Church. After retiring in 2005 from Castlewood High School, where she had been employed as a bookkeeper secretary for 30 years, she moved to Port Orange, FL. Charlotte, or Bo-Bo as she was lovingly known, was a devoted, steadfast mother and sister and a loyal friend who thought the sun rose and set with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carlos P. Nash, Jr. and wife, Gwyn of Castlewood VA, Cynthia Lynn Nash Luddy, and husband, Scott of Durham, NC, Jenny Tarwater Clevinger, and husband Teddy of Castlewood, VA, Brenda Goodwin Steele and husband John of St. Paul, VA, Johnny Goodwin, and wife Nancy of Abingdon VA; nine grandchildren, Jessica Clevinger, John Bradford Clevinger, Matthew Nash, Troy Luddy, Kate Luddy, Caitlin Dingus, Derek Lee, Amy Steele Johnson, Bart Steele; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Hartwell, Kay Lanz, Sandra Lunsford, Linda Jessee, and two special brother-in-laws, Curtis “Teeter” East and Bob Lanz; several nieces and nephews, as well as a dear friend, Donna Burke.
The family gives a special thanks to Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange - Amy, Ann, Audry and staff, who kindly made her last days comfortable.
A Celebration of Charlotte’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Port Orange Presbyterian Church, Port Orange, FL with Dr. Rev. Calvin Gittner officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Memorial Garden at the church. A reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange FL 32129 or Port Orange Presbyterian Church, 4662 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange FL 32129.
