

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished matriarch, Cecelia Cascio. She departed this life peacefully on June 9, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family.
Cecelia was born July 9, 1936 in New York, New York. She was the eldest of five children, making her a natural born caretaker and nurturer. She married her husband, Fred Cascio, and had three beautiful daughters, whom they raised in Staten Island, New York.
Cecelia was the heart and soul of her family, a pillar of strength and an irreplaceable presence. Her warmth, kindness, and boundless generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. As the ultimate hostess, Cecelia’s home was always open, a sanctuary where family and friends gathered to enjoy her legendary cooking and share in laughter and love. Her talent for creating delicious meals was only surpassed by her ability to make everyone feel welcome and cherished.
A true matriarch, Cecelia’s legacy is reflected in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her traditions, values, and spirit. Her love for family was evident in everything she did, from the grand holiday feasts she prepared to the everyday moments she made special.
Cecelia’s presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the stories we share, the recipes we pass down, and the love she instilled in each of us. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, family, and unconditional love.
She is predeceased by her husband, Fred Cascio, her parents, Ann and Frank Barravechia, her sister Barbara Cervini, her brother Frank Barravechia, and her granddaughter Samantha Reardon. Cecelia is survived by her sister Judith Briener, and her brother Michael Barravechia, her daughters Louise Mann (Douglas), Susan Oliveri (Anthony),and Kathleen Gaughran, (Richard) Her grandchildren Thomas Reardon (Katie), Regina Conklin (Patrick), Melanie Massa (Marc), Emily Sonntag (Michael), Nicolas Gaughran, M.D., Veronica Daily (Charles), and her Great Grandchildren, Beckett, Carter, Kellar, Lucas, Finnegan, Marley, Joseph, Henry, Parker, Arwen, Jack, and Liam, and countless nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Her family will continue to honor her legacy by living with the same grace and generosity she exemplified every day. Her place in our hearts is secure, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives.
Rest in peace, dear Cecelia. You will be truly missed.
A private viewing for family only will be held June 20, 2024, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, in Port Orange, Florida with a Mass of Christian Burial to take place on Thursday, July 11th at 8:30am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange FL with interment at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL, where Cecelia will be laid to rest alongside her beloved late husband.
