Cathie was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and creating memories that will last for many generations. She received so much joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. When we think of Cathie, we think of love, her wonderful sense of humor and wittiness but most importantly her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and the relationship she had with Him. She was looking forward to seeing her husband, Bob, her parents, and her son-in-law, Dan, upon her arrival to heaven.
Cathie enjoyed traveling and loved sharing her adventures. Playing golf with her ladies was a favorite pastime as was playing bridge with her bridge club for over 30 years. A passion that she was very proud of was being a Victims Advocate with the Port Orange Police Department. Former Chief of Police, Thomas Grimaldi, referred to her as "an intricate part of our Victims Advocate Program for many years. Cathie's compassion to help the most vulnerable in our community is demonstrated by her relentless work ethic. We are truly grateful for everything Cathie has contributed to our program". She was also an active member and elder of the Port Orange Presbyterian Church. She participated in missionary trips to Nicaragua and established a medical clinic there.
She previously resided in Erie, PA, and Meadville, PA, prior to moving to Port Orange, FL, in 1975. Cathie was a Realtor in the greater Daytona Beach area for over 25 years. She was Past Chairman of the Ponce Inlet Planning Commission, Past Member of Ponce Inlet Women's Club, Past Charter Member of the Board of Directors of Ponce Inlet Community Center.
Cathie is survived by her sister, Mardi (Fred) Hany, her daughters, Susan (Trent) Akins and Caren Cardin, son, Shawn (Jocelyn) Jenkins and her stepdaughter, Lynne (Mike) Tiner.
