She married Daniel Harborth June 21, 1981 in Port O’Connor, shortly thereafter moving to Lemoore Naval Air Station in California, she became a Navy wife for the next 10 years. January 29, 1982 was a wonderful day when Susan gave birth to a daughter, Michelle Leigh at Lemoore Naval Hospital.
