Odie worked as a Gauger, and committed 40 years of service to the Olivia-Port Alto Volunteer Fire Department, where he served various roles throughout the years. He cared deeply for his community and was loved by all who knew him. He had a love for the outdoors and you could always find him fishing, hunting, or telling tales of the two.
He is survived by his wife, Michell; daughter, Sara Browning and husband Robert; sons, Wesley and William McKelvy; 4 grandchildren: Marlee, Gus, Ali and Henley.
Survivors also include his brother, Jack McKelvy Jr. and wife Rosemary; sister Kay Thorpe and husband Dan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held April 8, 2015 beginning at 3pm at the Olivia-Port Alto Fire Department.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in his honor can be made to Oliva- Port Alto Fire Department or South Texas Children’s Home.
