Port Lavaca, TX – Linda Cyphers Fielder, 61, of Port Lavaca, passed away Sunday morning, December 29, 2013. She was born March 9, 1952 in Charleston, WV to June Creasy Cyphers and the late A.D. Cyphers.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Joe Fielder of Port Lavaca; her son, Dan Fielder and his wife June; and her mother, June Creasy Cyphers of Victoria.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca. A private graveside service will be held in Dale, TX.
Linda was a 1974 graduate of the University of Texas with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. She taught first grade for Guadalupe Elementary in Victoria and then 20 years for Port O’Connor Elementary. She had to retire in 1997 due to her progressing Parkinson’s Disease. She loved teaching and helping people. It was a great joy to her to see grown kids that she had taught throughout the years and they would always give her a big hug. She also loved making cards of encouragement to send to everyone she knew. If a person was sick, having a birthday or anniversary, rest assured they were going to receive a card from Linda. She will be sorely missed.
She is a faithful member of the Church of Christ and is now in paradise awaiting the judgment. As the Apostle Paul wrote in II Timothy verses 7 & 8: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
