Joe Charles Pena Sr., 85, of Port Lavaca passed away September 27, 2016. He was born December 13, 1930 to the late John B. and Adela M. Pena. Joe was a Catholic and served in the United States Marine Corp and fought in the Korean War.
He is survived by his daughters: Sheryl Pena, Annie Gonzalez, Rosie Adams and Julie Brown; sons: Joseph Charles Pena Jr. and John Charles Pena Sr.; sister, Rose Ellen Pena; 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Flores Pena; son, James Christopher Pena; parents; brother, Leonel Pena and grandson, Sean Trae Barrera.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 6-7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, September 30, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Port Lavaca Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are his grandsons, Trinidad T. Barrera IV, Zion Angel Falcon, Matthew Morales, Joseph Adams, Joe Isaac Peña, Leonel Max Peña, Royce Arlen Brown and Johnny Ramirez III.
