Doyce W. Taylor, 74 of Port Lavaca passed away December 20, 2013. He was born October 30, 1939 in Dawson, Texas to the late W.J. and Ida Mae Burleson Taylor. Doyce was a Retired Air Force Tech Sgt. having served during the Vietnam War and was also a member of the VFW. He was a member of the Evening Lion’s Club of Port Lavaca, and chartered two new Lion’s Club’s in the area. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca and the United Methodist Outreach Army.
Doyce is survived by his wife Carolyn Carlock Taylor; sons, Daryl W. Taylor and wife Debra, Geryl W. Taylor and wife Lana and Teryl W. Taylor and wife Kristi; sister Beth Woodall and husband Keneth; aunt, Edith Mae Brewer; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Doyce was preceded in death by his brother Johnnie Taylor.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 23, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca with the Rev. Mark Porterfield officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, James Taylor, Michael Taylor, Chris Taylor, Jarrett Parker, Dakota Taylor, Kody Taylor, Kory Taylor and Alex Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be his three sons, Daryl, Geryl and Teryl and Tina Fox, Kayln Taylor and Kassidy Taylor.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Maintenance Fund.
