David Edward Stokes

David Edward Stokes, 49 of Port Lavaca passed away peacefully at Citizens Medical Center in Victoria on Friday, February 14, 2014. He was born March 7, 1964 and was the son of the late Elizabeth Alice (Beth) Gross Stokes and Fred Marvin Stokes of San Antonio.

Survivors include his father, his grandmother, Mrs. L.E. (Helen) Gross of Port Lavaca, a step sister Carrie Wilburn of Huntsville and several cousins.

David was preceded in death by his mother and also his grandparents: Lewallen Edward Gross and Lillian and Edgar Stokes.

He was a proud member of the Port Lavaca Volunteer Fire Department for several years where he served as secretary-treasurer, 1st Vice President and President.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday February 17, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca with the Pastor Mark Porterfield and Shan Jackson of the Port Lavaca Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Buster Rosenbrock, Capt. Joe Reyes of PLVFD, Curtis Rosenbrock, Chance Rosenbrock, Landon Rosenbrock and Chris Cuellar.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Port Lavaca Volunteer Fire Department or the American Diabetes Association.
