David Karl Brach, 75, of Port Lavaca, passed away on July 7, 2015 after a five year battle with cancer . He was born on August 2, 1939 to the late David and Elaine (Novascone) Brach in Bessemer, Michigan. He was married to Judith (Hedberg) Brach on August 22, 1959 in Bessemer, Michigan. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1959 and served in Korea. David worked for Verizon for 29 years, starting out as a lineman for General Telephone Co. (GTE) and advancing to cable splicer, PBX repairman and finally a switching technician. David was an avid motorcycle rider, the longest rides were; 1999 Posse ride from border to border; 2000 from Port Lavaca to Civil War Battlefields; 2001 from Port Lavaca to Western National Monuments. His hobbies included cooking and gardening. David was a Catholic.
David is survived by: his wife, Judith; 2 sons, Michael (Sue) Brach of Inverness, IL and Randy Brach of Mechanicsville, VA; 2 daughters, Cheryl (Brooks) Morris, Crandall and Tammy Brach, San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sister, Marcia (John) Serbin, Milwaukee, WI. Brothers-in-law: Fred (Sheila) Hedberg, Bessemer, MI and James (Sharon) Hedberg, Minneapolis, MN.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15th at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Father Tommy Chen officiating and military honors under the auspices of the Calhoun County Veterans Joint Honor Guard. Right of committal and burial will take place on Friday, July 31 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Antony Lukka officiating. Military rights will be accorded by Bessemer American Legion Post 27 and Bessemer VFW Post 3673 Honor Guard. Arrangements in MI under the direction of Jerald Rocco, owner manager of Lakeside Memorial Chapel, Inc. in Wakefield, MI.
