Charles Byrd "Sonny" Krause Sr.

Charles Byrd “Sonny” Krause, Sr., 81, of Port Lavaca passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born June 29, 1930 in Port Lavaca to the Late Charles Arthur and Bertha Mary Morgenroth Krause. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a retired farmer and rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Avis Louise Sturm Krause and a son, Tommy Lois Krause.

He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Ann Viets and husband, Mike of Port Lavaca; son, Charles Byrd Krause Jr. and Sherrie Krause of Port Lavaca; seven grandchildren, Cathy LaMoria and husband Mark, Donna Dudley and husband Rick, Dawn Kohl, Anthony Viets, Jason Krause and wife Heather, Jennifer Krause and Robert Troup, Brent Krause and Maegan Pakebusch; nine great-grandchildren, Dairien and Shiloh Pope, Ricky, Katy and Linzie Dudley, Olivia Krause, Marc Quist and Megan Herbert, Hannah and Elizabeth Viets and one great-great-grandchild, Mason Quist.

Visitation will be held at Richardson-Colonial Funeral home in Port Lavaca on Thursday, December 29, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be at the Funeral Home on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jim Gicklhorn officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens in Victoria at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Pallbearers: Jason Krause, Brent Krause, Mark LaMoria, Robert Troup, Patrick Snider and Tommy May.

Honorary Pallbearers: Charles “Sonny” Crober, Rick Dudley, Jimmy Snider and Karo Henderson.
