Charles "Charlie" Barnett met his Lord and Savior face to face and gained his angel wings on October 1, 2023 at 3:47am. Charles's wife, family and his precious fur baby, Peaches as well as one of his caregivers were in his presence as he left this earth behind. He was born on Father's Day, June 20, 1943 in Moulton, TX to Loys Elroy and Madie Pearl Gibson Barnett. Charles worked for King Fisher Marine Service for most of his adult life. He started his career as an electrician's helper working for "Sparky" Sparks in the electrical shop. Charles learned quickly and soon found himself working on engines and pumps and made his way onto the dredge the "Leonard M Fisher" where he eventually became Chief Engineer of the dredge. Charles continued to learn everything he could from Mr. King Fisher and was promoted to Chief Port Engineer. Charles retired from King Fisher Marine Service in September 2000 and after a short retirement he joined LaQuay Dredging where he served as Vice President. Charles was a Christian man and a member of Alamo Heights Baptist Church where his mother, Mrs."B" was a founding member. Charles enjoyed being a "fisher of men" as the scripture states, sharing his stories and experiences with others. His Christian upbringing built a man with solid work ethics. He helped his parents at the Moo-Moo's restaurant on Railroad St in Port Lavaca, TX at an early age. His parents taught him to be kind and caring towards others that were less fortunate than himself and he carried that lesson with him giving to and helping others when he could. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends as well as fishing, hunting, and in his younger days a dance or two. He also enjoyed attending the Country Opry at the Cowboy Fellowship of Port Lavaca. He enjoyed sharing a meal and a time of fellowship with friends and listening to his daughter Margaret and friends sing. Most of all he enjoyed being in the presence of people who loved the Lord.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carol McBride Barnett; daughter, Margaret Bowden Kruse (David); grandchildren, Matthew Dalton (Karin), Charles "Chance" Bowden, Jennifer Kruse Rodriguez (Tomas "P-nut"); great-grandchildren, Thaelen, Legion, Abigail, Kayleigh, Tommy and David; 3 great-great-grandchildren; his loving nieces and nephews; and his loyal fur baby, "Peaches".
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, June Lynch.

We thank Victoria Hospice, Director of Nursing Brenda, Mary and Tange for guiding the care of our loved one. Our family extends a special thank you to "Charlie's Angels" for the care, love, hugs and laughs they shared with Charles every day. He told them often "Thank you for taking care of me" and "I love you" to which they would reply, "I love you too." We are so blessed to have these strong women of faith as caregivers. Rosa, Diana, Lupe and Tina gave Charles a piece of their heart and he loved and appreciated each of them. Thank you to our family and friends who have lifted us up in prayer and offered their help.
