Wessel, Vincent G. on January 22, 2021 at the age of 104. Beloved husband of the late Celeste. Cherished stepfather of David Clous (Ellenrita).Loving brother of Audrey Meyer. Fond uncle of Howard Meyer. Dear step grandfather of Dianne Bogoian (Jim) and Linda Clous and step great grandfather of Nathan Bogoian and Alexa Bogoian.
Vincent graduated from St. Johns University, worked for Equitable Life from 1935 to 1941 when he entered the US Army and served in World War II, became an officer and served most of the the last 2 years in Guam, and exited as a Captain. Then, most of his career worked for Schenley Liquors in the Empire State Building where he met Celeste and they were married in 1952.
Vincent was a kind hearted and caring man who contented himself with little, always finding ways to serve God and his community. He so enjoyed being able to support nature, animal, historic and religious organizations and did so unceasingly.
His biggest pleasure was creating laughter and there was not a subject that he did not have a ready joke for, and remembered them all. Keeping himself fit and laughter are what he attributed his longevity to. He was generous, independent, fair and moral gentleman, and gentle man with a ready smile and a warm word.
He loved his family and country, finding pride that spanning the years he always stayed fit enough to fit into his WWII Army uniform.
He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Vincent may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
