Mary Chadwick

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Chadwick of Selden, NY, who left us on September 26, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on April 19, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, Mary lived a life filled with love, resilience, and devotion to her family.

Mary is now reunited with her beloved husband, John E. Chadwick, who predeceased her 34 years ago, and her cherished son, John E. Jr., who left this world 54 years ago. She is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara Smith and her late husband Stephen, and Mary Jane Schneider and her husband Paul.

As a grandmother, Mary was adored by Chad Smith and his partner Asia Sewall, Danielle Calcaterra and her husband Phil, Ashley Smith and her partner Anthony Yaba, Amy Raja and her husband Camran, and Dawn Schneider and her partner Jesse Powell. She took immense joy in being a great-grandmother to Luca, Caden, and another little one on the way, as well as Johnny, Nadia, Nora, Idrees, Ruth, Nolan, and Ivy.

Mary was a selfless mother who always put her children first. Known for her generous spirit, she brought smiles and warmth to everyone around her, even in life's toughest moments. Her passion for caring for children led her to work at Bishop Larkin Catholic School, where she provided after-school childcare, nurturing young minds with love and compassion.

A deeply religious woman, Mary found solace and joy in her faith and in her beloved garden, which flourished under her gentle touch. Those who knew her often remarked on her infectious happiness and the radiant aura that seemed to surround her.

Mary Chadwick will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

A visitation for Mary will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Prayer service on Monday at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Long Island National Cemetery, 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
