John P. Blake, born on May 31, 1937, passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of Bernice, with whom he shared a remarkable journey of love and companionship. John's love story with Bernice began in their youth, a tale of true love that endured the test of time.
John was a devoted father to John (Maria), Jimmy (Jeanne), Keith, Denise Fotey (late James), Tommy (Maria), Patrick (Kacey), and the late Anne Reischman (John). His family was his pride and joy, and his legacy lives on through each of them.
As a cherished grandfather to Sean (Sonal), Amanda (James), James (Lindsay), Alexa, Christopher, Michelle (Barry), Thomas (Marissa), Hailey, John, Christine (Mike), and Bryan, John found immense joy in sharing his wisdom and creating unforgettable memories with his grandchildren.
John's role as a great grandfather brought him immeasurable happiness. He adored Jaya, James, James Maverick, Nolan Maddox, Markie, Makayla, Candace (fiancé Charles), Gregory, Amber, Ashlyn, Silas, Caly, John Micah, and Savanna, watching them grow with boundless love and pride.
John was a dear brother to Marion Breault (late Joe) and Richard (Donna), and his family ties remained strong throughout his life.
In life, John found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, driving his truck, enjoying a cold beer, and the thrill of gambling. He treasured walks along the beach with his metal detector, the smell of gunpowder from his black powder guns, and the camaraderie of the gun range.
Above all, John's greatest happiness came from his family. He relished every moment spent with them, whether on vacations, cruises, or simple gatherings at home. His favorite vacations being the ones when the entire family could all go together, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
John will be remembered for his unwavering love, his larger-than-life personality, and his profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
A visitation for John will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Prayer service Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3442 Route 112, Coram, NY 11727.
