Jack L Cutler, age 86, passed peacefully on June 20th, 2022, after a long battle with lung disease. He is survived by his 6 children: Dan Cutler (Johanna), Jack Cutler Jr. (Doreen), Elvin Cutler (Nancy), Leora Jackson (Cory), Edgar Cutler (Margaret), AJ Cutler (Jessica), many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and partner of ten years Nora Bixby and 2 dogs.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Joyce, his parents, and his siblings.
Jack worked for Buttercup Farms in Port Jefferson Station. His ‘nose to the grind’ work ethics earned him respect on the job and as the shop steward for Local 584 labor union. He would always say, “don’t be afraid to put in the work”.
Jack enjoyed traveling in the summers with his wife and children. He would take them to historic areas and visiting family in other states. At age 66, Jack went on his first cruise to St Thomas, Aruba, Curacao, and Puerto Rico. At age 70, he bought a truck and 5th wheeler and traveled to Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Florida and everywhere in-between. His happy go lucky attitude made it easy for him to make new friends along the way. Jack’s heart has always belonged to upstate New York, and he eventually found his way back home.
Aside from being survived by his family, Jack leaves behind many friends at the Cortland Country Music Park. His love for country music started as a young man when he taught himself how to play guitar and read sheet music. Jack was a staple at the Barn performing Hank Williams songs in front of an audience and spending countless hours volunteering his time to make the park a better place for the future. In 2018, Jack was elected to the Hall of Honor in the New York State Country Music Hall of Fame. When Jack was not performing, or working the BINGO night, or greeting guests at the door for a concert, you can find him on the dance floor.
Jack enjoyed his fishing trips to Oswego, NY, building and flying radio-controlled aircrafts, and the CB Club.
Jack will be greatly missed by all his nieces and nephews for his sense of humor and storytelling of his life experiences.
His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with. In his words, “we don’t say goodbye, we say see you later”.
A visitation for Jack will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 and Sunday, July, 10, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Casimir Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776.
