

Sophia was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, Jack Faughnan, and by her parents, Frank and Louise Kearns, her brothers, Arthur (Lois), William, and George Kearns, and her sisters, Frances (Donald) Howe, and Rose Mary Kearns. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Timothy, a daughter, Teresa Burke, and three granddaughters, Angela, Greta, and Jennifer Burke.
She is survived by sons, John (Christi), Brian (Sharon), and Paul (Arlene) Faughnan, and daughters, Rose Faughnan, Carol (Fred) Buchanan, and Margaret Flanders, also sisters-in-law, Eileen Kearns and Claudia Kearns and a son-in-law, Harold Burke. Her surviving grandchildren are Michelle (Frank) Talarico, Kelley Burke, Heather (Jacob) Lake, William (Tina) Faughnan, Robert Faughnan, and Sara (Matt) Gilbeau, Joshua Faughnan, Jacob Faughnan, Casey Flanders, and Alycia (Vincent) Masucci. She had 25 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren who were her heart’s delight. She had many friends, among them, Carol Thayne, Angie and Dale Furch and Kelly Mahoney.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She also cherished her extended family including many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was dedicated to nutrition, working in St John’s School cafeteria and General Hospital Dietary. After earning her Associate’s Degree she worked as a Diet Technician at Binghamton Psychiatric Center. She was a devoted member of Saints John and Andrew Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2-4pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered from Saints John and Andrew Church, 1263 Vestal Ave. Binghamton, NY on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10am with the burial to follow at St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Silver Lake, PA.
