

Santo (Sam) Morabito, 87, of Binghamton passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Elizabeth Church Manor. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence in 2006; parents, Antonino and Maria Morabito; brothers, Joseph and Frederick; sisters, Anna Regni and Mary Morabito; son-in-law, Richard Acquisto. He is survived by his children, Joseph and Victoria Morabito, Owego; Anna Acquisto, Binghamton; Danny and Terisa Morabito, Binghamton; grandchildren, Joseph Morabito, Jr. and fiancée Jennifer Mullins; Michael Morabito; Richelle Acquisto; Anthony and Stacey Acquisto; Natalie and Jennifer Morabito; great grandchildren, Hannah Acquisto and Santo Acquisto; brothers, James Morabito and Salvatore Morabito both of Binghamton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doris and Howard Tuckey, David Truxal, Margaret Hyde, Susie and Ron Reynolds, Judy Leet; many nieces and nephews; long time special friends, Dell and Barbara DeLorenzo. Santo was a very proud Navy Veteran of WW II, a member of VFW Post 478, American Legion Post 1645 and a long time member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He was a retired employee of Binghamton OTB and was the original radio voice of OTB results. He was the owner of Sam’s Sport Shop for over 30 years. Santo enjoyed his yearly trips to Vegas, fishing trips to the Adirondacks with family and close friends, watching all the sporting events of his grandchildren and hanging out handicapping with his buddies at OTB and Tioga Downs.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday August 10, 2013 at 8:45 AM at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY and continue at 9:30 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home Friday from 4 – 7 PM.
