Matthew Briel

Matthew “Matt” Briel, 53, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021. He was predeceased by his father Orion Briel. He is survived by his daughter Katelyn Briel; his mother Sharon Briel; his brother and sister-in-law Cary & Chris Briel; his partner Treena Vavra and her daughters Emma & Stefani Schmidt; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; many special friends whom he considered his family and his big little dog Baxter.

Matt was the owner of Hillcrest RV and Auto, he was a very talented mechanic that could fix anything. He loved Harleys, hunting and fishing. He was an amazing cook with an infectious smile. Matt was a big teddy bear who was rough around the edges but you always knew he had your back. He was very generous to his community and supported NYOA. He enjoyed spending time at the races with his daughter, he was her biggest fan.

The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 1-4pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at My Uncles Place, 120 Service Road, Binghamton, with a time to share memories at 5pm.
