Marion E. Diehl, 89, of Port Crane passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on March 14, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of the late Frank and Mary Vostal Oland, she was predeceased by her husband Elmer L. Diehl, Jr., who passed away in 1989, and her precious pet cats.
She is survived by her children, Glenn (Mary Ann) Diehl and Gregory (Joanne) Diehl; grandchildren, Katie (Michael) Simpson and Michael Diehl (Lindsay Metcalf); grand dogs, Lila, Russia, Casey and Allie; and many beloved friends.
Marion was a proud alumna of Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. After raising her children, she decided to become a Nurse's Aide and worked at Elizabeth Church Manor. After retiring, she became a Librarian's Assistant at Nineveh Public Library for several years. She was a long-time member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Afton where she was on the Altar Guild and Vestry. She also belonged to The Glorious Grannies, the Crafter's Group at Eastern Broome Senior Center, and the Harpursville UMC Women's Group and Quilting Guild. Marion loved history, her plants, reading, knitting and looking at the birds and animals that would often frequent the backyard of her home on Belden Hill. She later became a resident at Vestal Park Nursing Center and made many friends among the staff there. Above all, she loved her family and visiting with her many special friends.
At Marion's request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be held at a future date at the convenience of the family. Marion will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Harpursville next to her mother Mary and husband Elmer, Jr.
