He is survived by his wife, best friend and soul mate of 50 years Carol Sherwood Trelease and his basset hound “Woody”. He is also survived by a sister Kathleen Cardoso, brothers Charles Trelease & Fred Trelease; sisters-in-law Cheryl Linsell and Laura (Jeff) Hollenbeck and several nieces and nephews.
Lou was employed by International Paper in Conklin for 43 years. He was a long-time member of Alwaga Canoe & Kayak Club and the Mid-State Miata Club. He loved spending time outside canoeing, camping, riding his bicycle, riding his motorcycles and driving his Mazda Miata. Friends and family called him a “Gentleman Farmer” since he enjoyed brush-hogging the fields and pastures, building and fixing fences and digging drainage ditches. Also maintaining the “peace sign” in the back field.
Although he had no children, he was father to one beagle and eight basset hounds over the years, the latest being “Woody”. He was loved and will be missed.
The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 10-11AM with a Memorial Service to follow at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, those wishing kindly consider donations in Lou’s name to the Humane Society, 167 Conklin Ave. Binghamton, NY 13903.
