Kyle Ellsworth, 32, passed peacefully on 11/23/23. Kyle grew up and lived in Windsor, NY. He graduated from Windsor High School in 2009 and went to Syracuse University to study civil engineering. Kyle worked at Keystone Associates during high school and college in the survey and civil engineering departments. Joining the firm after earning his BS in civil engineering from Syracuse University in 2013, Kyle excelled quickly. Kyle re-established the residential design department and was responsible for the design of custom homes as well their structural framing. Of the many engineering projects Kyle worked on, he was most proud of his work on the renovations at the Rumble Ponies baseball stadium. As Kyle advanced, he began to participate in the business aspects of the firm and as his reputation grew, he began to develop clients who requested him on their projects. With his business knowledge, Kyle started a construction company with a partner and began building some of the homes he designed while maintaining his full time responsibilities with the firm. Kyle was a natural leader who cared about his peers and gained their respect. Many identified Kyle as the next managing partner that would lead the firm in the future.
Kyle was one of a kind: determined, strong, stubborn, focused, a handsome prince boy, as Mom would say. He saw potential in the people he cared about and pushed them to be the best versions of themselves. He had an innate belief that there wasn’t an obstacle too big to overcome and reflected that in never stopping until he got what he wanted. Kyle could be a little bit of a rule breaker but you’d forgive him as soon as he shot you that cheeky grin. Kyle loved a good workout and fast cars. If you were “lucky” enough to ride in that Subaru, you knew to shut up and hold on. Kyle was always helpful and loved to be there for the ones he loved, some may call it bossy (Rachael), but he always seemed to know the right thing to do. Kyle made time for the people in his life and shared his interests with others whenever possible whether it was in the gym, on the mountain, at the lake, or on an open stretch of road.
“Throughout our time together he taught me so much. Compassion, accountability, and dedication”; “Kyle would give you the shirt off his back”. These are some of the messages we’ve received about Kyle’s impact on others. In this spirit, the Kyle Ellsworth Memorial Scholarship has been created. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who embodies Kyle’s best traits.
