James (Jim) Clark Worthington III, 76, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Gloria, children James (Krystal) Worthington, Jessica (Amanda) Willworth, and Bethany (Matthew) Brockway, grandchildren Ruby, Alexander, Oliver, and his two youngest grandchildren, Levi and Sage, whom he met shortly before his passing. He is also survived by his brother Barry (Barbara), nephew Evan (Kerri), and by his two kitty girls Maya and Meesa. Jim was born on September 22, 1946 in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania to James and Helen Worthington. On May 30, 1970, Jim and Gloria were married in Braddock, PA. From an early age, Jim displayed a remarkable aptitude for electronics, which led to a career as an electrical engineer spanning more than fifty years and to a lifelong hobby as an amateur radio operator (call sign N2VWZ). He was a doting cat lover, sparing no expense on the eleven cats he owned throughout his life. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
There will be calling hours on April 28 from 4-7 pm and a Memorial Service on April 29 at 11 am with reception to follow at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Broome County Humane Society.
