The family is saddened to announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather at age 83.
Mike was born in Cold Lake, Alberta and spent most of his life in the Vancouver Lower Mainland. Mike graduated from Burnaby North High school. He then joined the Bank 0f Nova Scotia and spent 40 years in Banking before retiring in 1997. The last 20 years of his career were spent at their Main Branch in New Westminster. He became very involved in the community and served on the Royal Columbian Hospital Board of Directors and the Hospital Foundation for many years. He also became a member of the Vancouver Golf Club during that time, which he really enjoyed.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years (Marjorie), sons Brad (Shannon), Colin (Lisa), brother Clare, 4 grandchildren (Jordan, Kaden, Maggie, Kira) and 2 great-grandchildren (Sawyer, Ophelia). He is predeceased by his brother Larry and son Darryl.
In 2009 Mike and his sons completed the building of a family cottage at Loon Lake near Cache Creek where many good times have been spent. He loved his time there so much. He enjoyed woodworking and built model airplanes and boats and also did some wood carving. Mike and Marjorie enjoyed many cruise vacations over the years and a number of memorable road trips.
A family celebration of Mike’s life has been held with interment at Port Coquitlam Cemetery.
He will be forever in our hearts and be dearly missed.
Many thanks to the very caring staff at Oceanside/Peace Arch Hospital.
