Larry will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Larry had an artistic talent that was seen in the custom cars he brought to life. He loved '49 Mercs and restored 3 of them. They weren't just to look at but were driven on family vacations, car shows, Old Time Drag races and just to go sit at Timmie's with the guys. He really enjoyed sitting and talking about cars.
Before cars, there was a lot of travelling by motorcycle. Sun, rain & snow from the Yukon, BC, Western United States down to Mexico. There were a lot of adventures with tons of memories.
His love of cars was dwarfed only for his love of family. Even after he could no longer drive or be mobile, he enjoyed having family over and couldn't get enough of the grandchildren. If they couldn't come, he had to see pictures and videos of them.
Anyone that knew Larry, knew he was the consummate storyteller with an incredible memory for detail. So many stories of his youth in the Yukon from getting lost in a swamp, trying to float down the river in a half-barrel until the rapids showed up, blowing up a case of dynamite and putting a fox kit in the camp cook's bed...just to name a few.
Survived by Karen, his best friend and loving wife of 41 years; children; Bob (Ruth)-Whitehorse; Rod (Lee-Anne)-Surrey; Jody Foster-Princeton; Bryan (Kelly)- South Surrey and Shane (Alix)-Salt Spring Island; grandchildren: Cody (Kate) & Kyle (Lovejoy); Brandon & Samantha; Colt & Brock; Logan & Dominic; great-grandchildren: Paige & Liam; Easton & Emerson; Jaxon. Predeceased by his parents and his brother Clifford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Canada or the SPCA. I want to thank Dr. Elizabeth Lee for her compassion and to the ER nurses who took such good care of Larry in his last hours. I also want to thank Abi Fletcher for engaging Larry in his conversations about dirt bikes and being there for him. There were so many wonderful home care workers and I don't want to single anyone out but I have to thank Michele R for her constant encouragement and patience.
