Karyn and I met in the late 80s at Bournside 6th form in Cheltenham UK and became fast friends. I remember Karyn as a bright light, warm, caring, loving and this beautiful calmness about her. She was so patient and so giving, never judgmental and never spoke a mean word against anyone or to anyone. we lost touch when I left the UK to travel and have been looking for her for many years. I gave up around 2015 but decided last night to look again and came across her obituary. I am so saddened to hear she has passed away. Even sadder when I found out we both ended up in Canada, her in BC and me in Ontario. If I could talk to her now, I would tell her what a huge impact she had on me and my life, how much I love her and how much I cherish her friendship. She is truly one of the purest souls I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. If anyone is in contact with her parent's or her brother, please let them know I am thinking of them. my deepest condolences to her entire family. Karyn made a differences in many people's lives. - and that was true for patients and friends.  As a patient, her infectious can-do attitude, her knowledge, her competence, her warmth - her love - given so freely to her patients was unparalleled in any other practitioner I have met since then.   This week  I had pain similar to that Karyn helped me through many many years ago.  I immediately looked for her office line, knowing she had been through surgery for cancer, but certain I would hear her lovely voice if I could just find the right number.  Instead I found these beautiful tributes and realized she had died - 4 years ago.  To Pete and Annabelle, and Sophia - I hope you can feel Karyn's love with you everywhere. I've searched for Karen many times in the last 20+ years and was very shocked today to come across this online :( (March28, 2018). I wish I had been able to connect with her sooner, we were good friends at Bournside Senior school and studied for our English A level together. 
I am so very sad to see this news and send much love to her family.

You were our friend, you cared about us, you made us feel like we were special. You were a spiritual person, a free spirit and made us into better people. You passed on before your time, but not before leaving an indelible footprint on our hearts and our world. You enriched our lives with your unique personality and we all loved you so much and will miss you, especially in our family gatherings. You and Peter gave us two beautiful grand-daughters, Annabella and Sophia, and many, many happy memories of times we spent together.

Karyn was one of the sparkiest, kindest and bravest people I ever met. I remember the first time we heard about 'Pete's new girlfriend' from Mavis, who told us about the epic cycle trip across Canada and to this day I am amazed at such an achievement. But beyond endurance, Karyn was warm and considerate with an infectious laugh; when with her, she had that special ability of making you feel like you're at the centre of her world. I have the fondest memories from university spending time with of one of the loveliest people I have ever met.

I said in my letter to you shortly before you left us that unlike most people I liked you from the moment I met you. You were warm, caring, funny, intelligent and a great friend to me and my wife Hells Bells Mels. On our wedding day you read a passage which started 'today I married my best friend....' My Mums reaction was 'that little posh girl read that passage beautifully!'... I recall your infectious giggle (or was it a cackle!?), your humour, your compassion and above all your friendship which was unconditional and pure. I miss you already, and the world is a much poorer place without you in it......but fear not darling Karyn, because you will NEVER leave our memories or our hearts! Thank you for being you and I hope you are somewhere eating a bacon sandwich with branston picked on it, watching at the end of a runway as an overladen third world airline tries desperately to get into the air! ;-)

From the very first moment we met, you were so warm, friendly and caring.  We admired your love of life and adventures......and we loved you too.  Sadly you are no longer with us, but you will always remain in our hearts and in our minds, and a big part of our special memories.

Caring, compassionate, honest, and totally effervescent.
Karyn was my physio for several years and helped me through chronic pain, both physically & mentally.  Time spent with her was to be treasured.  
Karyn was one of those people you will never forget.  She put everyone around her at ease.  Her skill & talent at physical therapy were unparalleled; by far the best of the many physios I've had in my life.  A helper & a healer.

It breaks my heart to be having to write these words. I don't think these words will truly convey what you mean to me and how you have enriched my life.
Our friendship started 26 years ago this September in Nurses Home 1 at the start of our Physiotherapy Degree at Nottingham  University. From that first day i knew i had met someone special, simply a lovely human being in every way. You always had the ability to connect with anyone, whatever their background. It must have been your kindness, daftness, wicked cackle of a laugh, but most definitely your quirkiness and love for life. Over the years we have kept in touch, albeit at times infrequently but whenever we spoke it was as if we had only seen each other the week before. Catch up conversations were always so easy with you. I am thankful to have had the privilege of being able to call you my friend and i have many lovely memories to cherish; mucking around at uni, our girly road trip to Tofino, you doing Nigel and I  the honour of reading at our wedding, numerous weekends with you and Pete back in the UK with lots of laughter and way too much wine and seeing you as a mum with your gorgeous girls.

You, Pete, Annabella, Sophia, your Mum and Marek are in my thoughts and heart now and forever more.

I (Elaine) knew Karyn for 13 years and enjoyed every time I spent with her.    Both she and I had transplanted ourselves from our homelands and loving parents and family to live in new countries with husbands who we had met there - both called Peter!!   We both had brought our children up and lived very happily, in Canada and Britain respectively, with our new families and many friends.   We are so sorry Karyn and Pete's adventure together has been cut short.     Love to Annabella and Sophia from Lady Elaine, and Peter Allen. 

Peter would like to add that although he only met Karyn on a few occasions he was impressed by what a truly nice girl she was.     She will be sadly missed by both of us.

Not sure what/how to show the feelings on Karen's passing. Tears come to my eyes every time I look at photos of her. We are all a little lesser without her. The world is just not fair, not fair at all...Peter, we'll see you on the 20th, hope your dealing the best you can.

Hey Karyn, I cannot quite believe that I won't hear your voice again during one of our much anticipated albeit very infrequent phone calls! It was so easy to talk for a long time, and felt as if we spoke every day whenever we did speak, not once or twice a year. I remember catching your eye in the post-natal group when D and A were only a few weeks old during a talk on dentistry and could tell you were having the same thought - "teeth? now? Blimey!". We were all fairly clueless but supported each other so much with friendship and laughter (Cafe Nero where we all used to cram in with our prams is still the same) and you soon became a very important person in my life. Our regular walks to the runway or through Styal woods putting the world and our lives to rights with D and A were much anticipated although you were much more natural with the baby sling than I was! The woods are glorious at the moment and you would love them - a carpet of wild garlic and bluebells either side of the paths and the new green leaves above. Your enthusiasm and seize-the-day attitude were and are, an inspiration;  making elderberry cordial from the hedgerows, practising cycling with a sack of potatoes on your bike before taking A out with you, your pride in your chickens and their eggs, behind your cottage (we still use "Karyn's farm" as a landmark reference in our family (sorry Judy and Alan!)). All the other things you just 'did' whilst we looked on in awe....Then there was Rhythm Time - I think you and I enjoyed it more than D and A at times!- and so much more. Oh my lovely funny, compassionate, witty, warm, friendly, feisty and bonkers friend I will miss you so much but never forget you or your family. Much love always, Liz, Rich, Dan and Abi xxxx

We are so so sad that Karyn has left us all. She has been so brave. Your time here in the UK at The Oak Farm Styal left us with so many happy memories.  Karyn was such a good and lovely gentle person with great talent in her profession. You just couldn't help but love her back.  The memory of her will stay with us always. To my lover Karyn. You answered my bicycling across Canada ad from MEC in 1998 and how bold you were! I heard your beautiful kind voice on the phone and knew right away after 5 min you would be a perfect match. Our 3 month long bicycle adventure turned into a beautiful long and meaningful relationship like no other. You are my 'no fuss' friend. You didn't mind getting dirty. Ready anytime for a little chin-wag. My partner in adventure. Always thinking selflessly and so thoughtfully. Never wanting to put me or anyone out of our way or create any discomfort. Always giving loving and supportive words... while even living with your own serious life struggles!! Always there when needed. Always ready for a cup of tea. Always so congenial. You taught me to be proud and to speak my mind. You will always be in my heart and my memories of us will be cherished forever. Don't worry Karyn...I'll be OK. I'll be riding on knowing how lucky I am to have loved and known you. Thank-you for letting me into your life. I love you and always will.
