Ike and I relinked our friendship a few years ago but my phone went bad so had lost his contact.  While searching for him via my wife's Facebook page today I was shocked to learn of his passing.  The last time we communicated was around the time of his visit to St Vincent and I cannot believe it was so long ago.

Ike and I go back from Prep shool days in St. Vincent then at the St. Vincent Grammar School before he left to take up residence in Canada.  I recall many days we spent together playing after school as we lived not too far from each other.  

Ike was a wonderful gentleman, rest in peace my friend.

We never met in person but we shared a passion for photography and it is through Facebook that we met.  He 'liked' my images and I did the same with his images.  I also am a Vincentian who immigrated to Canada in the mid-sixties and fortunately for me, I am a cancer survivor. It was indeed very saddening to hear about his passing at such a young age and my heart goes out to his family and friends. Keep him alive in your hearts and yes it will be painful in the beginning  (I know because both of my parents have passed on) but it does subside (never goes away) with time.

Praise the Lord everyone, I  will bless the Lord at all times ,His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 
I would like to extend  condolences on behalf of the Patterson family , to Patty, Desmond, Akria Maggie,Aloma, Roselyn and to all of Ike' family members that are gathered for his home going. 
1Thessalonians 4: 13-18 says , BUT I would not have you  to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that he sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout , with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first. 
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 
Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 
I will always remember Ike for his cheerful smile,and when I prayed with him two weeks before he made his transition, though he was very weak I can hear his very weak voice saying, Hallelujah. I know that he is in a better place, may God bless you all . Peace and love. Auntie Theresa

Patti, Desmond and family;  Deepest sympathy to you for the loss of your beloved Ike.   Alexis, Jo and I will always remember Ike’s great big smile.  He never seemed to lose his cool with lacrosse refs like the rest of us.   Such a great guy!  Sending you love and light.

Ike was called home much too soon.  He was such a special husband, father, uncle, brother, friend, mentor and all round great guy that he will be sorely missed by all of us.   Regrettably,  we did not get to be there in person, but tears flowed knowing of the enormous loss to us left behind.

We had extolled his virtues on his recent Birthday and was a bit concerned when chatting about his most recent visit to SVG and his photos.   He confessed that he had not done as much as he usually did.  That was surprising to me.   I hoped to speak some more when we met, but it never happened.

Ike lived a good life and enjoyed his retirement (early election in hindsight).   We honour his life and legacy, his joie de vivre, his infectious humour and booming laughter.  

Our condolences to Patti, Arika and Desmond and to the whole family and his circle of friends.   He has gone to a better place.   We all treasure his  joyful impact on our lives.  We shall  all join him in time.  In the meantime, Rest In Peace, Ike.

Unc. I struggle with the idea that your time here was cut short but perspective is so important. Your life was so full of love and I thank you for the legacy that you have left us with. You were a man of peace and patience and I promise to honor you every day with those attributes. You were a man who spread laughter and love every where you went. I promise to laugh a little more and love a little deeper in remembrance of you. You were a man who appreciated the beauty of life. Thank you for the lesson of appreciating each moment and the beauty it holds. As I sit here and think about what you have meant to so many I realize that your life was not in vain. You lived with purpose and while I will miss you beyond measure I take comfort in knowing God called you home to be one of his angels. This isn’t goodbye. It’s... until we meet again. Love you.  

I remember meeting you by chance at a supermarket in St. Vincent.  I am happy to have met you. I will always remember  your infectious smile and love for photography. Just when we were starting to get to know you you were taken from us.

It is with sadness that we come together together in community to remember the legacy of love Ike left us. My condolences to Patti and the family.  I met Ike quite a few years ago when he started attending the Coquitlam prostate cancer support group, where he found support while fighting prostate cancer.  He kept coming because being Ike, he wanted to give support to others. He volunteered to be on the group committee and until recently was the membership person who greeted new members, welcomed them, made sure they knew what was going on and kept attendance records etc.  What a lovely man, truly one of the good guys, always cheerful, that wonderful smile and that Caribbean accent!  He will be missed, a lot.  Rest in peace Ike.

Uncle Ike, my heart is broken. I met  you for the first time a few months ago when you came home for Dad’s funeral. You were an amazing man and I’m very proud to call you family. You will always be loved and missed and will never be forgotten.

I will always remember Bro. Ike for his faithfulness. For a while, our church had an 8:45 service on Sunday mornings. Bro. Ike was always there at 8 when we would set up! He always had a smile. My condolences to the Williams family, it is with heavy heart to hear of Ike’s passing. We worked together in the late 70’s early 80’s , and was always thoughtful and hardworking. Over the year we kept in contact and at his last store, I found out Ike would always talk to my mom and dad when they went shopping. We would laugh about it , and how much it’s a small world. Ike you will me missed but never forgotten. I thank you for bringing joy to my parents, and I know you will be bringing them joy again

I am deeply saddened to hear of Ike’s passing . I worked with Ike at Safeway  in our younger years and we hung out  with some of the same friends .  As time passed we ran into each other as we moved throughout our careers. Throughout our time at Safeway we would run into each other and it was always so wonderful to see him , like time had stopped and we would get  into talking about the good  old days and our families. He  had a smile that lit up the room and a chuckle that matched. My heartfelt condolences go to Patti, Desmond and Arika . 

Ike...…..Our hearts are heavy today and some time to come. Al and I refuse to mourn you instead we will celebrate your wonderful life that you have shared with your amazing family and friends. Williams family and extended family. I am so sorry to hear of Ike's passing. We went to high school together and started the exact same day at Safeway and we spent many hours shoulder to shoulder trimming vegetables and stocking produce for display and sale. He was a great guy with an amazing sense of humour, he was one of the hardest workers I have ever met in my life and when I ran into him in later years, he always expressed the obvious joy and love that he had for his family.  I know that he will be greatly and passionately missed by many and he will remain in my stories as long  as I am alive.
