Dorothy Smith, born on December 22, 1932, in Rock Bay BC, brought joy to all those who knew her. A music lover at heart, she cherished her senior years spent singing and performing with the Silvertones group in Maple Ridge. She loved karaoke nights which were the perfect opportunity for her to show off her singing skills and be with friends and family. Her favorites were Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline, whose music always brought her happiness and comfort.
Dorothy spent her early years on Quadra Island where she developed a love for nature. Her love for plants and flowers could be seen in every corner of her home and patio where she had a wide variety of plants. She was also an avid fan of WWE and would watch a match whenever she could.  She was also one of the most tech savvy seniors of her time, sending text messages and posting Facebook stories like no other senior! 
In 2008, Dorothy found love and married Bill Smith. The two shared many beautiful moments together, including several trips and adventures before his passing in October of 2014.
Dorothy also loved to travel and explore new places. She went on many adventures with her family and Bill including a memorable Alaska family cruise. She also enjoyed trips to Mexico, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. She loved travelling on Reno bus trips with her family, where she made many memories and shared many laughs.
Dorothy was a loving mother to her children, and survived by Dale, Nita, Marg, David, Ralph, Terry, Donna, and Johnny. She was also a doting grandmother and great-grandmother to many. She always welcomed family with a hug and cup of tea and cookies. Dorothy loved family gatherings and enjoyed organizing events like family barbecues and Christmas parties. Her presence, kindness and gentleness always brought peace and happiness to these gatherings.
Dorothy passed on April 7, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones in Maple Ridge. She will always be remembered for her kind heart, love of music, travel, her plants, and smile.
