Ann was born in Portsmouth, NH on December 16, 1938 to the late Thomas P. Lawler and Virginia Iris Slack. She grew up in the New England area and settled in Rochester, NH with her husband, Joseph LaFleur where they raised four children. After their divorce, she met her second husband, Roland Whiteley, and they lived in NC for 4 years. Missing her family, Ann moved back to New England. She subsequently lived on the lake in Freedom, NH with her new husband, Leon Foster Jr. Upon retirement in 2004, they moved to Englewood Florida.
Ann led an active social life at her community of Tangerine Woods in Englewood, as well as the town of Englewood. She was involved in numerous activities including the Englewood Fun Chorus, leading the Adopt-A-Family program, ushering and performing at the Lemon Bay Playhouse, playing Mahjong, bowling, and shuffleboard. Ann loved to host movie nights, pre-dinner cocktail hour gatherings, and participating in monthly birthday lunches with her friends. She was head of the TW library and in charge of nametags for new neighbors there. Ann was always mindful of special occasions in the lives of others and was known to send out birthday cards to everyone she knew.
Some of her hobbies were quilting, sewing, reading, and singing at local area karaoke nights. In her later years she enjoyed traveling to places such as Europe and Alaska. In addition, Ann faithfully visited her children and extended family in New England and North Carolina many times a year.
Devoted mother of Linda DiGiusto and her husband Mark of Billerica, MA, Diane Bragdon and her long time partner John Reeves of Dover, NH, John LaFleur and his wife Robin of Dover, NH, Thomas LaFleur and his wife Paula of Farmington, NH, stepdaughter Deborah Boisvert and her husband Daniel of Manchester, NH, stepson Leon Foster III and his wife Lisa of Dawsonville, GA, and deceased stepdaughter Cynthia Foster.
Loving grandmother of Deanna, David, Earl, Brittany, Nicholas, Michele, Amanda, Andrew and Jason. Great grandmother to Delanie, Dylan, Kayla, Mackenzie, Cora, Dorian and Hunter.
Ann was predeceased by her husband Leon Foster Jr, her fiancé David Rettig Sr. and her only sibling Virginia Zapalac.
Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service to be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:00 at Englewood United Methodist Church, 700 E Dearborn St. Englewood. A reception will follow at the Tangerine Woods Clubhouse, Tangerine Woods Blvd, Englewood.
