His Celebration of Life will be Sunday, December 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church,123 E Livingston St, Orlando, Fl at 1:30pm with reception following. Robert J Kasper, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 9, 2022, after an outpatient procedure related to a lengthy health condition. Family and friends maintained a round-the-clock vigil during his final week and will remember Robert’s warm smile and gracious spirit. Robert is survived by his mother, Charlene Hart (Charlie); father, James Robert “Bobby” Kasper Jr.; children Lauren Biro (Zach), Cody Kasper (Kaitlynn) and Taylor Kasper (Shaun); five granddaughters; stepmother, Dixie Tate; sisters Jennifer Crandall (Richard) and Chelsea Kasper, and three nieces.
Robert was a 1988 graduate of Boone High School in Orlando, where his role as quarterback of the Boone Braves was just the beginning of his many leadership roles. Robert’s 18 and a half years in the U.S. Army included rising to the rank of drill sergeant and serving in Fulda, Germany; Desert Storm, Iraq; and in Southwest Asia in the global war on terrorism. He was instrumental in the creation of the Army’s Future Soldiers Program.
After his service, Robert returned to Mitchell’s Automotive off of South Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando, where he began working with his stepfather, Steve Mitchell, who preceded him in death, as soon as he was old enough to know and appreciate the inner workings of vehicles. He eventually took over as owner/operator and continued the tradition of knowledgeable and trustworthy service with a smile that longtime customers valued.
When an opportunity arose in 2017 to become caretaker of an estate in Boca Grande, FL, it was a chance Robert knew he couldn’t pass up. He loved the old Florida feel of the property and relished the opportunity to use his leadership and management skills to help in the restoration and preservation of its character and beauty. He continued his work there until recent life and health challenges made that difficult.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 E. Livingston St., Orlando, FL 32801. Donations in Robert’s memory can be made to Tidewell Hospice House, 1158 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
