John A. (Jack) Fitzgerald, who was born in Youngstown, Ohio on July 20, 1930, died peacefully on October 16, 2023 in Port Charlotte, Florida. Jack lived most of his life in Cleveland, Ohio, eventually retiring from his career as a plumber to spend his winters golfing and relaxing in Sebring, Florida. Jack served as a medic in the Korean conflict where he earned two Purple Hearts. He married Carol (Lyons) Fitzgerald and had seven children with her. He also married Lori Salamon who preceded him in death. He is survived by his long-term companion, Lyla Kuczinski. His birth mother, stepmother and father, Mary E. (McCormick) Fitzgerald, Grace M. (Carroll) Fitzgerald and John P. Fitzgerald preceded him in death. Three of his four siblings also preceded him in death: Robert C. (Bob) Fitzgerald, James W. (Jim) Fitzgerald and Joanne M. Fitzmaurice. He is survived by his sister Mary Grace Sanders. His remaining children are Patrick J. Fitzgerald, Mary J. Fitzgerald, Carol A. Fitzgerald, Thomas L. Fitzgerald, Lee Ann Kapel and John K. Fitzgerald. Michael T. Fitzgerald, his fourth oldest child, preceded him in death. Jack had 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2024 at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
