John “Pops” Demko, Sr, 81, of Venice, FL passed away September 11, 2016. He was born March 14, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to this area 18 years ago. He retired 20 years ago as a Driver & Salesman for the Ohio Baker’s Union Local 52. Locally, he had worked as a bartender for the British Open Pub retiring in 2009 after the death of his wife. He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp.
He is survived by his sons, Patrick Demko, John Demko, Jr and Kevin Demko; daughter, Michelle (David) Faulk; grandchildren, Alysia Demko, Dalton Faulk, Madyson Demko, Rylie Demko and Dylan Demko; great grandchildren, James Smego, Jr and Logan Smego; sisters, Barbara Werner-Demko and Sally Pate; Sister-in-law Winnie Demko. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Charlotte Demko, March 7, 2009 and his brother, Al Demko.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 4:00pm Sunday September 18, 2016 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 1935 S. Tamiami Trail,Venice, FL. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Monday September 19, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1301 Center Rd, Venice, FL 34292 with burial and military honors to follow at Sarasota National Cemetery.
