It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Joan H Rapp on February 18, 2022, at the age of 84 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Mary Tracey (Donald), Karen Torres (Charles), and John Rapp; her grandchildren Lauren and Travis Tracey, Rachel, Olivia and Gabrielle Torres, Anonda Rapp; and her sister, Kathleen Lamkin (Bruce). Joan was predeceased by her former husband Jack Rapp, her brother Jerome Milligan, her sister Patricia Daddato and her parents Joseph and Mary Milligan.
Joan began her life in St. Louis, Missouri where she graduated from Southwest High School and became a Registered Nurse at The Jewish Hospital of St. Louis School of Nursing. Her compassion, patience and empathetic nature was exemplified throughout her professional nursing career. Later, having relocated to central Florida in 1969, her dedication and drive inspired her to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida, Gainesville. She was a consummate professional and leader in her field having worked as a Head Nurse, Program Manager, Nurse Educator, and Case Manager.
Outside of work, Joan was an avid, and very good, tennis player. She loved reading, writing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Though small in stature, her heart overflowed with love, and she will always be lovingly remembered as “abuelita Joan”, “little grandma”, and “pocket grandma”. As a dedicated Catholic Christian her faith was strong and always brought her comfort and peace. Although she will be profoundly missed, we take comfort that she is resting in God’s loving arms.
