Joan Ruth Loche, a dedicated nurse, loving mother, and avid reader, passed away on June 5, 2024. Born on April 23, 1935, in Riverside, California, to Ernest Drew and Ruth Humphrey, Joan spent her early years in a close-knit family with her siblings John and Selby Drew.
Joan graduated from Modesto High School in 1953 and went on to study at Oregon State University, becoming a Registered Nurse. Her career was marked by significant contributions to healthcare, including helping to establish the first standardized nationwide paramedics standards. She worked at Dameron Hospital in Stockton, California, for over two decades, eventually becoming a nursing supervisor. Later, she served as House Supervisor at Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida, before founding Staffmasters, a nurse staffing company.
Joan shared a loving relationship with her husband, Ervin Clayton Loche, who passed away in July 2020. She was a devoted stepmother to Michael, and a caring mother to Sue Wilhite and Eric. She cherished her time with her grandchildren Dr. Ryan, Sean, Dr. Tyler, Joshua, and Camryn Loche, as well as her great-grandchildren Liam, Aurora Rose, Judah, Phoebe, Levi, Sophia, Harper, Honor, and Londyn. Her family remembers her as a guiding presence, always ready with thoughtful advice and a warm smile.
Joan and Erv enjoyed exploring the United States in their RV during the 80s and 90s, creating countless memories along the way. Joan's interests were diverse, from reading books to writing short stories and volunteering her time and energy to helping others.
Joan's life was full of love, learning, and adventure. Her analytical mind and kind heart were evident in everything she did. She gave selflessly, inspiring those around her to do the same.
As we remember Joan Ruth Loche, let us celebrate her life by carrying forward her legacy of caring and dedication. Her impact on her family, profession, and community will always be remembered.
