Gloria Ford Dickinson, age 84, died unexpectedly during surgery on May 20, 2020 in North Port, Florida. She was born in January 1936 in Bangor, Maine to Nathan and Virginia Ford. She married the love of her life and soulmate, Denis Dickinson, in February 1958. Through the years she had many homes from Maine to Oklahoma, New Hampshire, New York, Louisiana, Vermont and Florida. She had many wonderful friends and touched many lives.
Gloria’s passion was singing. She sang all around the house and everywhere she went. She sang in many choral groups throughout the years including the North Port Choral and Soundsations. She was an accomplished soloist, which led her to Lyric Theatre in Vermont and the Charlotte Players in Florida. Gloria was bitten by the theater bug in the 1970s, and was hooked on the stage ever since.
Gloria has spent the last several years working as a standardized patient, helping train doctors from all over the world become licensed here. She loved this unique way to use her acting skills and help others.
Gloria was predeceased by her parents Nathan and Virginia Ford. She is survived by Denis, her beloved husband of 62 years. She is also survived by her children, Stephanie Child and her husband Michael; and Steven Dickinson and his wife Dana Stuck; brother Michael Ford Sr.; sister and husband Tamara and William Rumery; and brother and wife Denis Ford and Sandra Andrews; four granddaughters, Theresa Grigas-Child, Tiffany Child, Cassandra Child and Karly Lynn Badame-Krkljus; three nieces and 2 nephews; and 1 great niece and 1 great nephew.
