So sorry to read of your passing Gary. May your light shine bright wherever you are now and you rest easy in paradise.

So sorry to come upon this sad news...I googled Gary to see what he was up to. Knew him from Greenport quite some years ago... spending lots of time there of late but no sign of his old gallery space or studio. I was honored to include some of his work in an exhibit I curated in Aquebogue...maybe 20 years ago. Loved his trees!

I'm a little late to the game and was just trying to see where Gary was. This is sad. He was a really gifted photographer and artist. His knowledge of the art and skills and his sharp eye and mind allowed him to create beautiful images. I only spoke to him twice in Greenport, NY Boy did he love to talk about his art. I'm the same way and it did annoy the wife with us going on and on. He loved to share what he knew. It's not a good thing for us all to lose a wonderful artist when the world needs more, not less. As late as this is, my sympathy to those that loved him.

We met Gary many years ago when he lived in Bridgehampton.  A talented photographer, we became friends.  I remember him as a gentle soul, a kind man, a creative and sensitive human being who loved his daughter very dearly.   Gary took many photographs in sepia tone that we purchased and still adore--of landscapes in our area, the woods, the magical almost fairy-tale moments he caught that belong in a book- my favorite photograph is one of my son and me.  We went to Pussy's Pond in Springs East Hampton and I gave my then toddler son a camera (in a box) ...the photograph was to be of only me, but when my son came and lay next to me I whispered loud enough for Gary to hear...."This is your picture...take this now...." and so it was he gave it to me for Mother's Day and I framed it...he later told me it won an award! 
 I was so excited for him...I knew it was a winning photograph- I'm a former magazine editor/stylist.  

To this day it is my favorite and everyone who sees it says it is absolutely beautiful...my son is now 32 years old...Yesterday I posted the photograph to my FB page...and today, I decided to look Gary up...only to be saddened. 

Gary called years ago to say he had moved to Florida and was very happy.  

I am deeply saddened to learn that he has passed away and send you who loved him my sincere condolences.  May you always have him in your hearts...as I shall always smile when I think of him and his gentle and kind being.

I'm James Rando, I was Gary Bartoloni’s best friend in grammar school. I was honored to have hooked up with him a few years ago on Facebook. We had many good conversations. Gary had a great childhood. I was with him for it. I knew his parents well. His parents and my parents were good friends who attended church together. Gary was a very intelligent and talented person and my best friend for many years. After years of personal hardships , Gary wanted more than anything else to return to his mom who was his all time biggest supporter. I’m so sad for my loss but happy that Gary is rejoined with his beloved mom .

Gary added spice to our discussion groups at the library, He was a great photographer and never stopped creating.
He defended always The Catholic faith and it’s heaven. May he rest in the light and love of that place for all eternity.

I knew Gary through my domestic partner, Tom Fendon.  I enjoyed listening to Gary recount his travels and experiences, particularly about Italy.  I was truly blessed to have him attend this past Thanksgiving dinner we hosted at our home.  He was delightfully engaging and he loved my homemade Wedding soup!  He actually indulged in a second bowl and I was so pleased he enjoyed it so much.  That was the last time I saw Gary, but had asked Tom about him.  I was so thankful that he spent Thanksgiving with friends and not alone, as he had said he would have, with only a tv dinner!  He made me laugh and I am deeply saddened by his passing.  I will miss him.

Gary was a friend, a mentor, a good man who spoke of his beautiful daughter with a love that was deep and proud.  He was an accomplished photographer that had a talent that was appreciated by many loyal followers.  
He is now pain free and at peace.  God bless his family and friends with peace as they navigate this time of grief and sadness.
