Fred S. Travers, 71, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Sunday July 1, 2007 in Port Charlotte, after battling cancer. Mr. Travers was born on October 5, 1935 in Falmouth, Mass., to Fredrick and Hazel Tavers Travers. He moved to Port Charlotte 5 years ago coming from Falmouth. He was a retired carpenter, a member of the American Legion, AmVets and the VFW all in Massachusetts. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Air force.
Survivors include his companion of 20 years, Elizabeth Blanchard of Port Charlotte; his children, Fred Travers of Concord, California and Kelly Coyle of Foster City, California; his mother, Hazel Travers; his sisters, Brenda Cabral, Geraldine Castleberry and Lorretta Pengelski all of East Falmouth, MA; Pat Clark of Oregon; his brother, Charles Travers of Maryville, IL; his stepdaughters, Tammy Bonds of Acushnet, MA; and Trisha Lorenzana of Port Charlotte; his 2 granddaughters, Danielle and Alison Coyle; his step grandchildren, Brendan and Brianna Carlino and Hunter and Connor Bonds and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Daffine Bumgarner.
