Frank graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School, NJ. While serving in the United States Air Force, he married Selena Vinai in 1963. He recently celebrated his 79th birthday. Frank was a devoted husband and father who found happiness in loving his wife, raising his four boys, and serving others.
Frank was known for his encouraging words and servant heart toward his neighbors, relatives, and family. As a young father, he was an avid supporter of his sons’ athletic endeavors. Frank volunteered as a football coach for the Toms River Little Indians, and he would often be seen with his boys in the front yard playing catch, throwing a football, and shooting baskets in the driveway. While living in NJ, Frank retired from Jersey Bell as a regional construction manager. After moving to Florida, he continued his career with Comcast Communications. One of Frank’s lifelong passions was boating and fishing. He found delight by the water and owned homes on the waterways to the bay, ocean, and gulf.
Frank was a follower of Christ and rarely missed an opportunity to be at church. He treasured the time he spent with his wife, Selena, of 58 years. They enjoyed cruising to tropical destinations with friends and relatives, sitting on the lanai with their dog Daisy, and taking family beach vacations. Frank’s grandchildren brought smiles to his face. He loved taking them to amusement parks, telling silly stories, and toting them around on his shoulders.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Selena Vinai Bishop; his father, Frank Bishop; mother, Charlotte Wachter; and brother, William Bishop.
Frank is survived by his sister, Charlotte Dutka (Bob); brother Richard Bishop (Dale); sister Janet Dougherty (Steve); four sons, Frank (Debbie) Bishop, Jr, David (Dawn) Bishop, Mark (Jane) Bishop, and Scott Bishop; six grandchildren, Richard (Michelle) Bishop, Jessie Bishop, Taylor (Bradley) Pinkus, Rachel (Chase) Smith, Zachary Bishop, and Katie Bishop; two great grandchildren Samuel and Emma Bishop; and nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda, FL on December 1st at 11 am. followed by the committal service at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fl. at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, Frank desired donations to be dedicated to the research of cancer and Parkinson’s disease.
