Edgar J. Stevens, 89, passed away on June 9, 2015. He was born on October 14, 1925 in Cambridge, NY to Daisy and Raymond Stevens. He served in the U. S. Navy in World War II, and graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and teacher education. Later he received his Masters Degree in Mathematics from State University of NY at Albany. He was a teacher and Math Supervisor for Kingston Consolidated Schools for over thirty years. He retired to Englewood, Florida in 1991 where he was active with Englewood Performing Arts and volunteered as a tax consultant for AARP.
Edgar is survived and greatly missed by his beloved wife of sixty-five years, Verna Stevens (Englewood, FL), and three children : Mark Stevens (Gloria) of East Earl, PA, Robert Stevens (Deborah) of Winchester, VA, and Debra Stevens Kinz (Steven) of Louisville, CO. . He was also the much-loved grandfather (better known as POP) to: Jennifer Franks, Tiffany Hazepetrou, Cristina Kinz, David Kinz, Mark Kinz, Jeanne-Marie Stevens, and Reverand Joshua Stevens, His love and devotion to family was also extended to six great grandchildren: Tyler, Aidan, and Abby Franks; Chloe and Riley Hazepetrou, and Paul Peterson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Englewood United Methodist Church Doan Chapel on June 18th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Englewood Performing Arts or Englewood United Methodist Church Memorial fund.
