Charles Orb Sheldon, 88, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away June 15, 2013. He was born October 13, 1924, one of three sons to J.R. and Dorothy Sheldon in Knightstown, Indiana. Charles and his wife Betty owned the Clinton Candy Company in Indiana before moving to Florida in 1966. He worked for General Development in the early years of building in Charlotte County. He was a lifetime member to the oldest Moose Lodge #7 in Frankfort, Indiana and was a former member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge 2606.
He is survived by his son, John Sheldon and his daughter, Victoria McClure; 6 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Betty Sheldon on July 11, 2010; his parents and brothers, Bob and Jim.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 am till 10:30 am, Friday June 21, 2013 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A Graveside Service will follow at 11:00 am at Charlotte Memorial Gardens, 5900 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in memory of Charles be made to Tidewell Hospice at tidewell.org.
