Alfred Benkner, 93, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away October 20, 2013. He was born December 21, 1919 in New York, NY and moved to this area in 1990 from Pompton Lakes, NJ. He worked as an Aviation Re-Insurance Specialist retiring from Guy Carpenter, a division of Marsh & McClellan in NYC. Locally, Alfred was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children, Al (Sandra) Benkner of Punta Gorda, FL; Patricia Benkner of Montville, New Jersey and June (Eddie) Amara of Punta Gorda, FL; granddaughter, Devyn Amara of Punta Gorda. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Adeline one year ago on October 18, 2012 and his brother, Henry Benkner.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm till 7:00pm Thursday October 24, 2012 at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 635 E Marion Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday October 25, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Inurnment with full military honors at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date.
