William M. Jackson, 89, of Port Arthur, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013 surrounded by his family. William was born January 11, 1924 in Port Arthur to the late Joseph Jackson and Orene Foster Jackson. William is best described by his family as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandparent and trusted friend. William enjoyed camping, keeping his yard immaculate and volunteering at the Senior Citizen Center, Groves. William served his country during WWII in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He will be greatly missed by many in his community.
William is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy Mae Jackson; siblings, Joseph Jackson, Frank Jackson, Louise Hebert, Annie Peck, Lucille Yates and Ellen Fisher.
William is survived by his son, Gary Jackson and his wife Lisa of Baytown; daughter, Linda Condrey and her husband Rick of Port Arthur; brothers, Robert Jackson and his wife Mary of Vidor; Charles Jackson and his wife Hazel of Bridge City; 3 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great- great grandchild and his faithful dog, Ellie.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013 at United Methodist Temple in Port Arthur, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
