Mr. Hardy was born September 11, 1936, in Port Arthur, TX and was the eldest son of Luther Charles and Lucille Hardy.
In his early life, Mr. Hardy was an accomplished amateur boxer, competing in Golden Gloves tournaments where he won a
championship in 1953.
As a young man, he worked in the Orange shipyards, for Lawrence Allison Associates, and then enjoyed a long career with PPG as a Marine Inspector. He retired from PPG Industries in 1997.
Mr. Hardy married Edith Marie Liebert of Groves, TX in 1956. They celebrated 54 years of marriage. They originally made their home in Port Arthur, though Mr. Hardy’s career took them to Brownsville, TX and Baltimore, MD. In 1975, they moved to Lake Charles, where they lived until retirement.
Mr. Hardy is survived by his wife; his sister Elaine Herod; three children, Ronald Dean Hardy Jr. of Dallas, TX, Matthew Jace Hardy of Sulphur, LA and Renella Boullion of Onalaska, TX; and eleven grandchildren; Michael Boullion (deceased), Darrick Hardy, Ashley O’Regan, Jami Hardy King, Adam Hardy (deceased), Austin Hardy, Travis Boullion, Alexandria Boullion, Britney Hardy, Sabrina Hardy and Ryan Hardy and a host of friends.
A gathering of family and friends will begin on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 9 a.m., with a chapel service to follow at 12 noon at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, TX. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, TX.
