Miguel Angel Ortiz, Jr., 50, of Port Arthur, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017, in Port Arthur. Miguel was born March 12, 1967, in Nicaragua to Miguel Angel Ortiz, Sr. and Maria Irma Morales Ortiz. Miguel was quiet person with a funny personality. He loved to joke around and have fun with his friends and family. Miguel worked for The Schooner Restaurant for 20 years as a cook. He was a sports fanatic and was always there to take care of his family.
Miguel is survived by his parents, Miguel Angel Ortiz and Maria Irma Ortiz; a daughter, La Conia Matehuala and her husband, Arturo; three grandchildren, Marianna Matejuala, Chepita Matehuala and Romeo Matehuala; sisters, Jeanette Araica and Irene Ortiz, and a brother, Marlon Ortiz. Miguel also leaves behind his uncle, Carlos Ortiz and his wife Josefa; aunt, Migdalia Ortiz; cousins, Roberta Guerrero, Javier Ortiz, and Delia Loza; numerous friends and relatives to cherish his memories.
A Christian Vigil will be held Friday, at 6:00 p.m., with the family to receive friends and relatives from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017, at St. James Catholic Church, Port Arthur. Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
