A loving mother, grandmother, and friend, Joyce lived a full and spirited life. She found joy in the simple pleasures—cooking meals with love, tending to her garden, and watching her favorite wrestling matches on TV. Her sharp wit and warm heart were matched only by her unforgettable sayings, including “Turn the other cheek,” “Jesus loves you,” and her famously playful, “You’re as big as a house.”
Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Paula Brasseaux and Linda Lemoine, who will carry forward her strength, humor, and unwavering love. She also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and countless other family members and friends who were touched by her kindness and laughter.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Hewitt Doucet; her sons, Jerry Phillips, Gene May, and Chris Thomas; her daughter Penny Sanchez and her parents, Olivier Lafleur and Sedonia Chapman.
Though her physical presence will be missed, Joyce’s legacy of faith, family, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her memory—just as Joyce lived every day.
