Floyd had served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After marrying Corrine Nunez on February 15, 1947 in Cameron, LA, they moved to Groves where he had resided for the last 61 years. He was known as a jack-of-all-trades and loved to tinker and build things. He and Corrine enjoyed going to their log cabin in Warren. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a twin sister, Flora Belanger.
His survivors include his wife, Corrine Trahan of Groves; and six children, James F. Trahan, Jr. and wife Janie of Livingston, Michael D. Trahan and Sandy Holdsworth of Groves, Regina Mercer and husband Larry of College Station, David Trahan and wife Debbie of Katy, Sybil Knox and husband David of Doha, Qatar, Mark E. Trahan of Port Arthur; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A gathering of Floyd’s family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.
A Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Groves with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
Pallbearers will be Kennie Trahan, Ronnie Trahan, Jason Hane, Kevin Mercer, Daniel Trahan, Shea Knox and Dustin Knox.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Ronald Fusilier.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 440 N 18th Street # 7. Beaumont, TX 77707-2255.
