Herbert moved to Groves 44 years ago from Kenosha, Wisconsin and was a security guard for Delta Security. He loved working puzzles, listening to gospel music, fishing and being outside in his garden tending to his orchids. He also won 1st place at the state fair with one of the many quilts he made.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
Herbert’s survivors include his wife, Virginia Kame of Groves; five children, Herb Kame and wife Donna of Groves, Sherry Kame Hollier and husband Michael of Groves, Tammy Kame Chapman of Groves, Wendy Kame Romero of Port Acres, Renee Kame Willis and husband Wesley of Groves; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011, in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
