Guy “Leyton” Brown Jr., a loving father, PawPaw, brother, uncle, friend and companion, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, at Franklin Park Assisted Living Center of Boerne, with his faithful companion (Val) of 20 years by his side. He was 72.
Leyton was born to Guy and Louise Brown on September 25, 1951, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was the brother to Jackie Brown and Cathy Satterwhite. He graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1970. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Arkansas on a football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in 1975. Shortly after college, he moved back to the Port Neches area and began working at Texaco Chemical Plant. The company eventually became Huntsman Corporation - the company he retired from in May 2018 after 43 years.
He had a deep love for people and had seemingly never met a stranger. He enjoyed watching football, playing fantasy football, watching game shows, taking motorcycle trips with great friends, playing Texas Hold’em, putting peanut butter on food that shouldn’t have peanut butter on it, having a good time and making people laugh. He loved his family and friends dearly and led the annual 4th of July family celebration – which included both family and friends that were considered family. Perhaps his greatest joy was spending time with his grandkids. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, generosity, manners, genuine love for people and his ability to have fun and make the best out of any situation.
Although we are saddened by the end of his earthly life, we rejoice in the fact that he is no longer suffering. We find comfort and peace in knowing that because of his faith in Jesus, he is in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Louise Brown, and brother-in-law Mike Satterwhite.
Leyton is survived by his girlfriend, Valerie Silva; step mother "Pony" Brown; his sons, Kyle Brown and wife Sarah, Kevin Brown and wife Erika, and Jacob Brown and wife Kaitlin; and grandchildren, Kaleb, Kenley, Naomi and Elliana Brown. He is also survived by his brother Jackie Brown and wife Lisa, his sister Cathy Satterwhite, as well as many other family members.
Leyton’s Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur, Texas. There will be a visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm, and a light reception following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) or a charity of your choice.
